Mixed Berry Cobbler

A simple, warm dessert made with a mixture of fresh berries and a sweet, buttery crumb topping. The berries become soft and jammy while the topping becomes golden and crisp in the oven.

Sample Imagery

These images represent the type of photography I would like to use for the final recipe website. I am interested in warm, colorful photographs that emphasize the berries, the texture of the topping, and the contrast between the dark fruit and golden crust.

Self Proclaimed Foodie

I like how this recipe page makes the cooking process feel very approachable. The recipe includes helpful visual explanations and breaks the process into simple steps, which is something I could use when organizing my own page.

Allrecipes

I like how Allrecipes keeps its recipes simple and easy to navigate. The clear organization of ingredients and instructions could be useful for making my own recipe page easy to follow without taking away from the visual design.

Food & Wine

Food & Wine uses large, high-quality photographs that make the food the main focus of the page. I like how the website feels more editorial and sophisticated, which is something I could incorporate into my own berry cobbler design.

Non-Recipe Website Research

Aesop

I like Aesop's use of whitespace and simple layouts. The website feels clean without feeling empty, and I could use a similar approach to give the different sections of my recipe room to breathe.

Kinfolk

Kinfolk is a good reference for its photography and editorial style. I like how images and text are given equal importance, and I could use this approach to make the berry cobbler feel more like a magazine feature than a traditional recipe page.

Apple

Apple's website is a good reference for clear visual hierarchy and simple communication. I like how typography, spacing, and large images are used to guide the viewer through information without making the page feel cluttered.

Initial Design Direction

For the final recipe website, I want to create a warm, editorial feeling that focuses on the color and texture of the berries. I am interested in using large photographs, generous whitespace, and a simple typographic hierarchy.

I would like the finished page to feel more like a food magazine than a traditional recipe website. Close-up images of the berries, the cobbler while it is baking, and the finished dessert could help make the recipe feel more tactile and inviting.
