1. My name is Carina Basora, I'm a senior communication design and psych double major.
2. I really enjoy design and I'd like to learn more applicable skills to be able to bring my design to the next level. I also want to be able to create my own portfolio website at some point. I did very very basic programing when I was in elementary to middle school in a club called First Lego League- we programed lego robots but I don't think it was anything applicable. I did really enjoy it though, so I am curious about this type of programing.
3. I don't unfortunately have experience with HTML/CSS/JS, I guess technically I downloaded it once for one in class assignment, but it was very very simple, we just messed with the fonts and margins.
4. I hope to learn enough to be able to build simple websites that are functional. I would also like to know how to make the design motifications that I can on programs like Adobe indesign.
5. I expect it to be a lot more difficult for me, as I tend lean heavily on being able to physically move things around on the page- I am not sure if I will be able to translate that well.
6. Google I chose this because it has a very clear and central purpose- the search bar is at the very center of the page seen right underneath the logo. It is very easy to navigate, the button for images is right beneath the search bar, and the additonal apps that google has can be accessed in the top right of the screen with an icon. If you are unsure about a link, you can hover over it and a title appears. It is a very accessible design.
7. Effective communication: Nike The images and text work very well together to create simple but effictive navigation throughout the website. The designer utilized negative space and simple typography to draw attention to the most important navigational tool.
8. Works well: Pinterest This website is super simple but works very well, the images are at the forefront and make a nice grid layout. The images rearrange themselves depending on the size of the screen as well as the image size. The search bar, categories, and individual pins make it easy to find and save things that you are interested in.
